Best Halloween Movies Of All Time

Hello Halloween!!

Let us set the tone: It is a Friday night, fireplace is on, cups of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows are fixed. Your favorite pumpkin spice, cranberry, brown sugar, or whatever your favorite candle scent is filling the room and you settle down on your sofa with a nice sherpa blanket but what do you watch?

Here is a list of some of my favorite Halloween movies (most may be Disney but hey it is the kid in me):

  1. Hocus Pocus- This is my all time favorite Halloween movie. I think I watch it just about everyday the entire month of October. It sets the tone for me. I am not a big scary movie person, which you’ll be able to tell as you see my list lol but I do love movies that set the tone for the season and this just so happens to be my favorite. Story of three Salem Witches, starring Bette Midler, Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. I’m sure everyone has seen it but if you have not, it is a must watch.
  2. Twitches (1&2)- I hated this movie as a child. I was super scary and it scared me lol but now that I am an adult I love it. Starring Tia Mowry Hardrict and and Tamera Mowry Howsley, it is about twin witches that save their kingdom from the forces of darkness.
  3. Halloweentown- All of them are great! A teenage witch in training, need I say more?
  4. Smart House- This movie seems to only come on during Halloween, I would not think of it as just a movie to watch during that time but I love it. A family wins a smart house that later grows obsessed with the family.
  5. October Kiss- This is a Hallmark movie. I tend to keep it recording year round. I love, love stories. This is about a lady that becomes the nanny of a family and falls in love with the dad. It is Halloween themed since it took place during Halloween time.

This is a list of my favorited Halloween movies. I think I’ll do a post about my favorite Hallmark movies soon. In the meantime, tell me your favorite Halloween/Fall inspired movies.

Here I Am

This is probably the most transparent I’ve ever been and I’ll ever be but here we go.

I believe in calling myself out from time to time and now it is time for that, yet again. I am always extending myself and giving my best effort when it comes to everyone else but when it comes to myself, I slack badly.

I feel like I’m so behind in life. I know it is on our own time but it is hard not to think otherwise. I procrastinate badly and I am so ready for things to change.

I know it starts with me and I am working on it. I have been in college since 2014, because I love putting things off and taking breaks when things get tough instead of pushing through. I also love blogging and things should be differently by now but that procrastination gets the best of me and I’ll take a break in a min. I promise to put my best foot forward, from this day forward.

It is hard when you have little to no support. I am so thankful for my husband because that is all the motivation I have, when I lack he’s been picking up my slack and pushing me. I just knew I had to put myself on blast in order for me to make a change.

So here I am, from this moment forward I will do my best in everything I do.

How did I know he was the one?

Truth is I did not know. Before getting married we often times wonder if there is a sign or if there is a moment that we just know we are destined to be together. For me, it did not happen that way. Honestly, I still do not know, but what I do know is I love him, he loves me, and we are going to both do our best to make sure this works.

I used to think life would be like a hallmark movie. Guy meets girl, they fall in love, and live happily ever after. Boy did I have it wrong. It was actually the total opposite. Relationships and marriage are hard work. We are still figuring it out.

My husband is far from perfect, but he tries, and he loves me unconditionally. I never boast about the things he does for me, but I do not know what I did to deserve such a loving man. I am truly spoiled and if he ever tells me no I would pass out and just lay there in a puddle of tears, lol but no seriously.

To sum all of this up, as previously stated, I did not ever know he was the one but what I do know is as long as he is trying, I am here to stay. You probably were looking for the formula to true love and relationships here but there isn’t one. Every relationship is different and what I am willing to accept and go through may be different for you and vice versa. Love conquers all! That’s it, that’s the formula lol.

Chickenless Fajitas

Sorry for being so late at posting this recipe. I’m not even going to begin with my entire life story and why I have been missing I action, I’ll save that for another day. Today I am going to review the Morningstar Farms Chik’n Strips and share a recipe with you guys.

If you have been following me for a while, then you know that I decided to become a vegetarian. I have been trying the Morningstar Farms products for three weeks now and I have enjoyed them. Today I tried the Chik’n Strips and they weren’t bad. Of course the texture is different but it was not a big difference in taste to me.

I decided to pair the “chicken” with some bell peppers and onions for some nice chik’n fajitas.

The texture was different which I was already expecting, other than that it tasted like my regular chicken fajitas. I made this over two weeks ago and I’m actually eating some now as we speak. Not leftovers lol I made it again tonight.

Give it a try and let me know how you like them.

Becoming Pescatarian

Hey guys!

I decided to become a pescatarian a while ago. I’ve done it before but grew tired of it. I knew I had to find some good meat alternatives in order to keep it up.

A week ago, I was talking to my friend and she told me she had been eating Morningstar Farms meals. They are plant based meals and I knew that this would be perfect for this time.

I’m what you call a lazy pescatarian lol! I love cooking but too lazy to look up plant based meals so this is why finding these meals were perfect for me.

Not vegan, YET! Just manifesting

Morningstar Farms meals aren’t vegan, it’s vegetarian actually. They do contain some dairy in them, but they were perfect for me right now.

The buffalo chik’n patties and veggie burgers are my favorite. Honestly, they taste pretty darn good to say it’s not real meat, solely plant based.I’ll be sharing the way I cook them in another post.

I’ve been doing this for a week and I feel so much better. I have a great bowel movement (sorry tmi), I’m more energized, and my mental health is better than it was a week ago. Crazy but I saw a difference in myself within a few days.

I’m getting ready to make some fajitas tomorrow and some spaghetti one day this weekend so I’ll definitely share the recipe with you guys and let you know how it tastes.

I’m super excited about this.

Disclaimer: This is just the beginning and motivation for those that want to become vegetarians or pescatarians but don’t know where to start.

Please chime in and anyone that’s an experienced vegan or vegetarian, please give your thoughts. School us..

Until next time, love you guys 💜

Creamy Spinach and Chicken Pasta

I’ve been getting lots of questions about the creamy spinach and chicken pasta I posted on my Facebook story. Here you go:

Rotini pasta
rotel tomatoes
grilled chicken
heavy cream
parmesan cheese

1. Boil rotini noodles (add salt) until tender

2. I grilled chicken breast (season to your liking) in the George Forman grill and then sliced them and added them to the noodles

3. I added the spinach and rotel tomatoes to the chicken breast and noodles
4. Add 2 cups of heavy cream to the spinach, tomatoes, chicken and noodles (season to your liking)
5. Last I added parmesan cheese and turned to a medium heat. Stir frequently.

That is about it and you have a quick and delicious, creamy spinach and chicken pasta.

I recently stopped eating meat so I’ll just substitute the chicken for mushrooms.

Birth Story- Dylah

During this pregnancy, I was in the hospital just about every week from 32 weeks until I delivered at 38 weeks. Pregnancy was a breeze up until the end. I kept going into preterm labor. At exactly 38 weeks, on January 2nd at 10:00pm, I went to the bathroom every 5 mins for about 2 hours. I didn’t think anything of it.

The next morning I woke up at 4 and lost my mucous plug. I started having contractions like crazy. They were close and pretty intense but I have a high tolerance for pain so I just breathed through them. Around 11, I called my doctor because I was leaking, she told me to go get checked immediately.

I arrived at the hospital around 12:30, they did not believe I was in labor because of how calm I was. They ran test and left. I stayed contracting but the nurse said it wasn’t enough to admit me since I did not seem like I was in labor.

The results came back at 2:30 and she told me they were admitting me because my water did indeed break.

I made to my room and got settled exactly at 3:30. I called my family and my mom rushed from work to get my daughter. I joked around with my husband for a while before begging for an epidural. I got my epidural at 4:30. I squirmed through because I had the urge to push.

It took them 30 mins to do my epidural. I remember texting my sister in law at 5:00 saying I was in pain and at 5:35 I texted her and said she’s here. My epidural didn’t even work because it happened so fast.

This was the best delivery. It was just my husband and I, 2 nurses, and the doctor. They were so helpful and luckily I had the same nurse from when I delivered my first child. She remembered me and we even took pictures together.

Although it seemed like such a nice delivery, this pregnancy traumatized me and I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again lol.

Birth Story- Demi

I was scheduled for induction on September 24, 2017, for 10:00pm. I arrived to the hospital 30 mins early, just so I can get settled and sign all the paper work. They started me on fluids as soon as I got their and told me that they would start cytotec (a pill placed in my vagina to help prepare my uterus) at midnight.

12:00 pm, the nurse came in and checked, I had not dilated and when she checked me she placed the cytotec. I was instructed to no get up for an hour. This was suppose to give the pill time work.

At exactly 12:50am, I had to urge to pee. I got my best friend to unhook me because I could not wait those 10 mins and I went to the bathroom, she hooked me back up and I went to use the bathroom. The nurse came in to fix the cords and I had the urge to pee again. I went right back to the bathroom. I was peeing without force but did not think anything of it.

Right at 1:00 am, I said calmly to my best friend, “Wow something just popped inside of me,” a few seconds later, I said calmly, “wow a gush”. Lol! She immediately jumped up and called the nurse. I told the nurse, I think my water broke and she said, “No, that can’t be it. That has Neve happened that fast.” She checked me and when she pulled her hand out, it was full of amniotic fluid. She said “wow that definitely was your water”. She told me the contractions may pick up soon so try to get some rest.

I was too excited I could not sleep. The contractions started but nothing too unbearable, just felt like mild period cramps.

Around 9 I asked for an epidural. Only because I was only 4 cms and I was getting discouraged. My nurse came in at 11:30 to check me and she said “Congratulations, its time, you’re at 10 cm”. I immediately started crying.

This is when it got hard for me.

My husband was there holding my hand, my mom was on the other side and I pushed for exactly 2 hours. I just could not get the hang of it. I was so tired and begging for an epidural. Thank God, they did not let me. At 1:41 pm on September 25, 2017, my Demi Solei was born weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces and 18 3/4 inches long.
